GSH Group Achieves 2023 Carbon Neutrality

PARSIPPANY, NJ – GSH Group, globally-recognized Integrated Facilities Management provider, has announced achieving carbon neutrality for 2023, independently assessed and verified by Carbon Footprint Ltd. This news marks GSH’s third consecutive year as a carbon neutral organization.

Since 2018, GSH has been voluntarily collecting emissions data and calculating its carbon footprint to combat the facilities management industry’s carbon outputs. As a result, GSH can monitor its progress to assess and implement subsequent reduction strategies – hoping to become carbon negative by 2025. GSH has offset its unavoidable emissions through Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) projects in India, where GSH has been operating since 2012.

“GSH will continue to strive to reduce our emissions and the effects our operations have on the environment,” stated Mark Thomas, GSH CEO.

Established in 1895, GSH Group is a global provider for Integrated Facilities Management, MEP Engineering Services, consulting and more. Team GSH had a great time as we attended our first “Transit State of Good Repair – West” conference in San Francisco! Leading the way for us was Steve Wallis and Thor Emblem, who presented during the conference, and Ken Cadorin and Joe Annino, who worked the networking sessions.

FM Social and Environmental Responsibility

Social and environmental responsibility is one of the main challenges that real estate developments face today. As our client decided to embrace this approach, we offered to reactivate their rainwater collection system, which had been out of service for 25 years.

The identified benefits include:

● Cost Savings: Utilizing rainwater for non-potable purposes such as irrigation, cooling, and toilet flushing significantly reduces water expenses.
● Sustainability: Rainwater harvesting decreases reliance on external water sources, contributing to green building certifications and promoting long-term water supply sustainability.
● Enhanced Water Quality: Naturally soft rainwater lacks minerals, extending the lifespan of equipment and lowering maintenance costs.
● Stormwater Management: Harvesting rainwater minimizes stormwater runoff, prevents erosion, and reduces pollution.
● Energy Efficiency: Using rainwater lessens the energy required for water treatment and distribution.
