GSH Group Inc., To Provide Energy Savings for Meritage Properties
Meritage to Utilize GSH EnergyPlus Program to Substantially Lower Their Energy Costs
Pine Brook, N.J. (September 15, 2008) - GSH Group Inc., an international facilities and energy management provider throughout the United States and Europe, today announced a long-term contract with Meritage Properties at Metroplex I and II in Landover, Maryland. The 300,000 square-foot office complex will utilize GSH's energyplus program. GSH currently provides energy management services for another Meritage property in Providence, Rhode Island.
GSH Group will provide Meritage with guaranteed energy savings over the duration of this contract. As part of its unprecedented business model that is gaining momentum throughout the industry, GSH Group funds all of the facility's new infrastructure needed to substantially reduce energy consumption. The Metroplex project work will include a lighting retrofit, building management system's recommissioning and installation of a solar water heating system. By making an investment in a property's equipment to improve efficiency and achieve energy savings at no cost to Meritage, the GSH contract is an investment that pays substantial dividends for real estate owners.
"We have been focusing on a variety of energy initiatives across our portfolio," says Andrew Nathan, CEO of Meritage Properties. "GSH offered us an ideal combination of guaranteed cost savings, top quality engineering support, and a commitment to making continued energy efficient capital improvements to our property," Nathan concluded.
"We are delighted to continue building on our relationship with Meritage Properties at Metroplex in Maryland," said Jamie Reynolds, president of GSH Group. "Our energyplus program is already a tremendous success at their Providence, Rhode Island office complex. Meritage takes a particularly sophisticated approach to building operations and recognizes that saving money on their energy consumption is good for their bottom line, for their tenants and good for the environment as well," Reynolds added.
Reynolds recently delivered a keynote speech entitled "The Green Wave - Energy, the Demand Side" at Meritage Properties 2008 Strategic Partners Conference at Metropolis Country Club in New York.
Meritage Properties was founded in 2003 as a value-oriented owner, operator and investor in mid-sized East Coast Properties. Their primary focus is the area from Boston to Washington, D.C. Since its inception, Meritage has acquired interests in 23 properties (2.3 million square feet of office space and 503 residential units) valued in excess of $550 million.
