GSH becomes official IOSH trainer
GSH Group plc has stepped up its health and safety training in a move to create a safer working environment for its employees by becoming an Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) licensed course provider, enabling it to self-deliver the IOSH Managing Safely course in-house.
Managing Safely is a course designed by IOSH, Europe's leading body for health and safety professionals, to give managers and supervisors all they need to know to help them ensure health and safety in their teams.
GSH is training all GSH Managers to the IOSH Managing Safely standard to raise the level of health and safety competency within the business in an attempt to create a safer workplace.
As a licensed course provider, GSH can deliver the course not only to its own staff, but also clients and other interested parties. The course is delivered over a four day period and all the assessments are verified externally by IOSH.
Robert Greenfield, GSH Group Director for Safety, Health and Environmental, said: "Our employees are of utmost importance to us which is why we want to act in their best interests at all times. Becoming an IOSH licensed course provider allows us to deliver the Managing Safely course to our employees as and when they join the business, ensuring that they are aware of how to handle health and safety in the workplace from the very beginning of their career at GSH. By increasing awareness, we can work together to eliminate the risk of potential hazards and create a much safer working environment."
GSH's objective is to extend this exclusive training course service to its clients, suppliers and other key stakeholders to help create safer working environments for everyone.
GSH always places health and safety compliance at the top of its business agenda. All new employees undergo a comprehensive health and safety induction, which is constantly reviewed as part of the Company's ongoing commitment to meeting and exceeding current legislative requirements. The GSH fleet is also under regular review to ensure that it meets stringent safety standards. A recent review carried out on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust revealed that the car fleet is largely NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) 4 or 5 rated, and is therefore considered to be safe.
