Established in the US market since 1996, this year marks a milestone in GSH USA's history as its energyplus programme attracts some of the leading players in the real estate industry, allowing GSH to expand into new regions of the US such as Upstate New York, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, and expansion of its client base in New York City. Newmark Knight Frank, Advance Realty Group, Meritage Properties, Mountain Development Corporation, Principal Global Investors and Normandy Real Estate Partners are among those companies that have signed up for the energy programme. The solution guarantees to save energy at no cost to the client, helping them to reduce their environmental impact whilst delivering significant financial savings. Clients have benefited from guaranteed energy savings and funding of capital equipment at contract start, allowing clients to make investments in their properties while GSH funds the improvements. Additionally during this financial year, GSH has started up a 10 year $30 million contract to manage the world-class Biomedical Research Center on Johns Hopkins University's Baltimore Campus. For this 550,000 square feet, purpose-built facility, GSH provides fully integrated facilities management services in support of the critical research efforts of the National Institutes of Health who occupy this facility. The award of these contracts has resulted in the doubling of GSH's annual contract base which is now circa $40 million annually. Jamie Reynolds, President of GSH USA, said: "While 2008 is a tremendous year for GSH as we have doubled our contract base, it is not surprising, as the industry begins to realise the benefits of cutting carbon emissions, which our energyplus programme is designed to do. In the age of environmental consciousness, our energyplus solution is ideal for property owners who want to reduce their carbon footprint and utility spend without making a financial investment."
