GSH tackles the skills shortage head-on
The UK's fastest growing facilities and energy management provider, GSH Group plc, has been working in partnership with local Staffordshire school Clough Hall Technology School in tackling the skills shortage facing the industry.
Providing hands-on support in signing children onto the new curriculum construction course, GSH has not only donated various supplies, but has also taken an active role in actually teaching the students.
GSH representatives give regular talks on health and safety issues that are demanded in industry, teach them about the how's and why's of different health and safety regulations and illustrate opportunities within the industry.
David Leese, GSH Health and Safety Compliance Manager, said: "We are delighted to be supporting such an initiative that is so beneficial to both young people and the future of the industry. We are pleased that we can use our expertise to educate others and knowing that we are instrumental in giving pupils the chance to gain an insight into working life.
"The relationship we have formed is mutually beneficial in teaching the engineers of the future with the hope of them becoming future employees at GSH."
John William Geary, Clough Hall Technology School Progress Manager and Construction Awards Coordinator, added: "We would like to thank GSH for their generosity in giving up their time to talk to our pupils and providing us with the portable safety barriers that will benefit our pupils greatly. It's lovely to see businesses taking an interest in and making a difference in the local community."
