GSH puts fleet safety and sustainability first

Leading facilities and energy management provider GSH Group plc has put the safety of its employees first by investing in a safe fleet.

GSH has a "clean, safe and green fleet" according to a review carried out on behalf of the Energy Saving Trust.

The Green Fleet Review revealed that the Company's van and car fleets are predominantly Euro 3 or 4 emission standard and its cars are largely NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) 4 or 5 rated, and are therefore considered to be safe and more environmentally friendly.

The Euro standards for toxic emissions are a measure of the pollution produced, whilst the NCAP is a benchmark of the safety of new vehicles.

GSH only acquires vehicles that meet stringent safety and sustainability standards, with the fleet under constant review to ensure employee safety.

In 2007, all GSH directors exchanged their existing company cars for environmentally friendly hybrid models as part of the Company's ongoing commitment to reducing carbon emissions. Reducing carbon footprint is a strategic target for GSH as part of its robust Corporate Social Responsibility policy. Last year, through its core energy and controls service offerings, GSH was able to reduce CO2 consumption by 14,305 tonnes for its UK clients. Effective fleet management is a further way that GSH plans to reduce carbon footprint for both itself and its clients.

Neil Murray, GSH Managing Director, said: "We are committed to improving the environmental impact and the safety of our employees, suppliers and clients. The Green Fleet Review highlights the proactive approach we take in creating a sustainable future and the importance we place on both environmental, and health and safety issues."

Nigel Underdown, Head of Transport at the Energy Saving Trust, commented: "It's great to see so much commitment being put towards making a fleet not only safe, but also green. They have shown a real appetite and commitment to reducing the emissions of their vehicles and creating a safer environment for their employees."
