Duncan Hall
Non-Executive Director
Duncan currently works within the customer service management team at Virgin Mobile, though he worked at GSH in a number of roles between 1994 and 2000. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from City University and an executive MBA from Cranfield University School of Management. He is the son of the former Group President and majority shareholder of GSH, Ian Scarr-Hall.
John Kelly
Non-Executive Chairman
John has been a director within the investment division of Close Brothers since 1997, having previously been a director at Close Brothers Corporate Finance for five years. Prior to this he was a director of Brown Shipley, the London-based merchant bank, for Pricewaterhouse Coopers in 1967 and has a degree in Law from Queens University, Belfast. John is currently a director for: Cosalt plc, Clugston Group Limited and Close Securities Limited.
David Simons
Acting Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary
David is a certified and chartered management accountant, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and also a member of Euro FM. The first part of his career was spent in the manufacturing and contracting industries. He then joined Cooper and Lybrand in 1985 as a management consultant advising customers on business strategy. On leaving Coopers and Lybrand he held divisional finance director roles within Caradon, Carillion and WS Atkins where he was finance director of Atkins' property division. David joined GSH in 2000.
Rob Painting
Senior Independent Non-Executive Director
Rob Painting is a chartered accountant. After qualifying with Pricewaterhouse Coopers he spent more than 20 years in senior positions with blue-chip companies. From 1986 to 1990 he was the Chief Financial Officer of the Keller Division of GKN plc. In 1990, as Finance Director, Rob was instrumental in the creation of Keller Group plc, the UK quoted global construction services group, via the management buyout of the Keller companies from GKN, the subsequent successful flotation of the group in 1994, and in co-developing and implementing a highly successful growth strategy. He is a director of Addworth Plc, also listed on AIM.
